In the Hurlbut genealogy by Henry Higgins Hurlbut he notes that at the time of printing in 1888 that Springfield did not exist any longer. However there are multiple Springfields in Ohio. The one in question does exist and it's located around the town of Lakemore, OH southeast of Akron.

Name

From the Hurlbut genealogy by Henry Higgins Hurlbut, 1888. In 1835, Ira went west and located in that part of the town of Racine, Wis (since Mt. Pleasant) and his was the third family settled int he town. Ira it is understood was a man of great energy, "tall, lean and of a light complexion". It is told that he was subject to a rather violent temper, and his language at such times was not under much control. He had served I was informed in the war of 1812.
