Death of a wife	Daisy Myrtle Odell June 7, 1937 (Age 64 years) Note: Obituary - Daisy Myrtle O'Dell (sic) was born on January 1, 1880 in the village of Modena, Wisconsin… Obituary - Daisy Myrtle O'Dell (sic) was born on January 1, 1880 in the village of Modena, Wisconsin, the only daughter of Austin and Dolly Strong O'Dell (sic). She was educated in the Modena schools and attended the Buffalo County Training School at Alma. She taught in the rural schools of Burffalo, Monroe and Trempealeau counties for eleven years. From 1907 until 1909 she clerked in the Schaettle Bros. store in Mondovi. One May 5, 1909, she was united in marriage with Ernest Lyman Claflin of Mondovi. Two children were born to them: Dorothy and Dale. On October 24, 1936 she suffered a severe stroke, and bore this affliction patiently for seven and one half months. On the afternoon of June 7, after several days of intense suffering the angels came silently, kissed the spirit free from the tabernacle of pain and Daisy O'Dell (sic) Claflin fell sweetly into the sleep from which mortals wake to immortality through Christ. The Deceased was a woman of most excellent qualities, for she was the most charitable and kind in disposition and so lived her life that the memory will always remain most pleasant one for the relatives, many friends and neighbors. She has been associated with the order of the Eastern Star since September, 1907. During this time she served as Worthy Matron and at the time of her illness was filling her second year as Secretary of this order. These duties she performed with the same conscientiousness which characterized all she did. Mrs. Claflin leaves to mourn her demise her beloved husband, one daughter, Mrs. Edwin J. Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one son, Dale of La Crosse; her aged father, Austin O'Dell (sic), of Mondovi. A large number of other relatives and friends will mourn her passing. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Tuesday, at 2:00 P. M., Rev. A. R. Klein officiating. The Order of the Eastern Star also conducted their ritualistic service at the church. Internment was made in the Riverside cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs C. C. O'Dell of Madison; Mrs. Ed Moats, Mrs. Arnold Berndt, Mrs. Fred Helbig and daughter Greta, and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wingad, of Eau Claire; Mrs. E. J. O'Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Giles O'Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hillestad and son Gordon and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dutter, of Eleva; Mrs. Fred Markman and Mrs. Asa Caturia, of Arkansas; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowen and Mr and Mrs. Leslie Bowen, of Black River Falls; Mrs. Lillian Streaton and Mrs. Lila Olson of Bangor and Mr. and Mrs Eagan, of West Salem. CARD OF THANKS We take this means of expressing our deep appreciation of the acts of kindness and sympathy shown us during our great bereavement, the death of our beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Daisy Claflin. Death	1952 (Age 79 years) Note: Obituary, Ernest Lyman Claflin, son of Lyman J and Marcia Smith Claflin was born October 13, 1879 in… Obituary, Ernest Lyman Claflin, son of Lyman J and Marcia Smith Claflin was born October 13, 1879 in Gilmanton Wisconsin. He was the youngest of six children, five of whom preceded him in death, namely: Alice (Mrs F. J. Seyforth), Carl, Bert, Fred and Percy. At the age of three he moved with his widowed mother to Mondovi where he later attended the local schools. As a young man he went into the harness making business in partnership with his brother Bert. He operated his own shop at various locations in the city until 1930. During this time he also carried on a painting business until his health prevented his continuing this. He was united in marriage May 5 1909 to Daisy O'Dell (sic) of Modena, Wis. Two children were born to them. Dorothy and Ernest Dale. Mr. Claflin was a kind and patient man having displayed these qualities in abundance in his family life and in his contacts with all others. He was a faithful and active member of the Knights of Pythias until his death. His health had failed rapidly in the past year and on Friday, December 12 he passed away. Mr Claflin leaves to mourn his death his son E. Dale of Albuquerque, New Mexico and his daughter Dorothy (Mrs. E. J. Smith) of Minneapolis, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Colby Funeral Home Monday, December 15th at 2 p.m., Rev Raymond Robinson officiating. Graveside services were conducted by the Mirror Lake Lodge Nov 163, Knights of Pythias. Mrs Edwin Putzier was soloist, with Elmer Putzier as organist. The pallbearers were six nephews, Rex Knowlton, Robert Foster, and Merle Claflin and Ralph Seyforth.
