Obituary - Daisy Myrtle O'Dell (sic) was born on January 1, 1880 in the village of Modena, Wisconsin, the only daughter of Austin and Dolly Strong O'Dell (sic).

She was educated in the Modena schools and attended the Buffalo County Training School at Alma. She taught in the rural schools of Burffalo, Monroe and Trempealeau counties for eleven years. From 1907 until 1909 she clerked in the Schaettle Bros. store in Mondovi.

One May 5, 1909, she was united in marriage with Ernest Lyman Claflin of Mondovi. Two children were born to them: Dorothy and Dale.

On October 24, 1936 she suffered a severe stroke, and bore this affliction patiently for seven and one half months. On the afternoon of June 7, after several days of intense suffering the angels came silently, kissed the spirit free from the tabernacle of pain and Daisy O'Dell (sic) Claflin fell sweetly into the sleep from which mortals wake to immortality through Christ.

The Deceased was a woman of most excellent qualities, for she was the most charitable and kind in disposition and so lived her life that the memory will always remain most pleasant one for the relatives, many friends and neighbors.

She has been associated with the order of the Eastern Star since September, 1907. During this time she served as Worthy Matron and at the time of her illness was filling her second year as Secretary of this order. These duties she performed with the same conscientiousness which characterized all she did.

Mrs. Claflin leaves to mourn her demise her beloved husband, one daughter, Mrs. Edwin J. Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one son, Dale of La Crosse; her aged father, Austin O'Dell (sic), of Mondovi. A large number of other relatives and friends will mourn her passing.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Tuesday, at 2:00 P. M., Rev. A. R. Klein officiating. The Order of the Eastern Star also conducted their ritualistic service at the church. Internment was made in the Riverside cemetery.

O'Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Giles O'Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hillestad and son Gordon and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dutter, of Eleva; Mrs. Fred Markman and Mrs. Asa Caturia, of Arkansas; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowen and Mr and Mrs. Leslie Bowen, of Black River Falls; Mrs. Lillian Streaton and Mrs. Lila Olson of Bangor and Mr. and Mrs Eagan, of West Salem.
